'Iran ready to help settle Karabakh conflict'

RAMSAR, Apr. 05 (MNA) – Iranian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers discussed bilateral ties as well as the regional developments.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov who arrived in Iranian city of Ramsar on Tuseday to attend the fourth trilateral meeting of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan foreign ministers, met with Iran’s Zarif and discussed the latest developments in the region, as well as bilateral relations.

Pointing to the current issues and crises in the region and among different states, Zarif said in such a situation, every effort should be made to control the escalation of the crisis.

Zarif noted his phone conversation with Armenian counterpart and underlined the need for a rapid end to the conflict in Karabakh region.

He also expressed Iran is ready to spare no effort to help resolve Azerbaijan-Armenia problem in a very peaceful way.

The two sides also reviewed and exchanged views on the latest developments in bilateral relations, the visits and meetings between officials of the two countries and taking necessary measures to expand cooperation in all fields, especially in different economic areas.

Mammadyarov also announced Azerbaijan’s willing to invest on Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway, a project will link Central Asia with the Caucasus and northern Europe, further facilitating international transit in the region.
